The
Farmer's Market "No Moth Spray" Booth was an incredible success and the talk of
the Market.
Two tables were set up in "L" shape in the highest trafficked
location of the market so that exposure
was excellent within the market
and to the sidewalk and to the street. Double sided large signs
wereposted
as high as ten feet so that traffic in both directions realized the issue was
being
challenged, and everyone in the Market was aware of the efforts
going on to stop it.
The
tables were busy all day with people wanting information, signing petitions and
offering their
appreciation for the efforts of the tireless people who
were manning/womaning the booth. Other
volunteers were walking amongst
the people in the market handing out information sheets and
directing
them to the NO MOTH SPRAY booth/tables for further information and support. Each
stack
of flyers was cleverly topped with a tiny mini pumpkin which integrated
the day so nicely.
Incredibly
well qualified volunteers manned/womaned the booth for the entire four hours of
the market
and it was like magic as someone had to leave to care for their
children, others would magically
show up to take their place. There seemed
to be at all times the perfect number of people behind the
tables distributing
flyers and sharing information and a perfect number of people on the other side
actively engaged in conversation to learn more and requesting the various
information flyers, and so
many other valuable handouts that were at the
booth.
The
reaction of people to the position of NO SPRAY without a complete ENVIRONMENTAL
IMPACT
REPORT has been gaining support all along. At the market with all
the true information finally
catching up to the misinformation that the
CDFA has delivered, the support of the people is
essentially 100%. Republicans,
democrats, independents, liberals, conservatives, moderates,
hippies,
nurds, athletes, musicians, politicians, city and county workers, store owners,
meat eaters,
vegetarians, bicyclists, surfers, SUV drivers, hybrid drivers,
parents, children, teenagers, gang
members, tourists, locals, skateboarders,
punks, dead heads, students, gays, straights, bi's,
abstainers, long hairs,
skin heads, frutiitarians and all pets are against the spray.
