ECIL ties up with US firm for Doppler Radars
Hyderabad, Feb 22. (PTI): City-based Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), a Public Sector Enterprise under the Department of Atomic Energy today signed MoU for the co-production of high performance Doppler Radars with Radtec Engineering Inc. of USA with the assistance of Mantec Consultants (P) Ltd, who have offices in India and USA.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by G N V Satyanarayana, Director (technical), ECIL and Greg Slater, Sales Manager-Radtec Engineering Inc. USA in the presence of A S Brara, Chairman and Managing Director Mantec Consultants who represent Radtec Engineering Inc. in India, a release said here.
The MoU will help bring technology to India for weather radars for meeting India's requirements and also boost exports from India of components required in weather radar systems world-wide, the release said.
The radars will be used for weather prediction and modification systems.
The radars, having a range up to 400 kms are capable of collecting data of cloud formations useful for predicting hail storms, rain forecasts, gust winds etc. These will be useful for weather bureaus, India Meteorological Department, airport authorities and Indian Air Force, the release added.
